Queen Vernita Visits Gator Country
Book Review

Queen Vernita Visits Gator Country by Dawn Menge

Disclosure; I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Queen Vernita Visits Gator Country is an absolutely adorable book! All 3 of my kids enjoyed it immensely! I first read it to Miss Rosalie right before naptime & it held her attention! I think she really enjoyed looking at the pictures as well as hearing the book being read. Michael read it once he got home from school, as one of his reading assignments. He has been assigned a certain number of minutes that he has to read each month, so he was all for reading a new book!

I love how much education kids can learn from this book! The boys learned more about the Deep South in Louisiana & they really enjoyed it! There were a couple of times that Michael needed help with words, but those were few & far between!

Each month, Queen Vernita visits a different friend and learns a different aspect of the Southern Culture, Tradition & History. The Queen spends a total of 12 months traveling to visit all of her different friends! She learns everything from what you would need to know to be able to travel up & down the Mississippi River on boat, to Mardi Gras in March, to even getting to hold a Baby Alligator & learn about that species!

Michael says that you most definitely need to read this book! He now wants to go to “Gator Country” and do all the things Queen Vernita did on her year long trip!
