Geeky introvert Tessa Rodriguez will do whatever it takes to get promoted to video game engineer– including create a fandom-based video game in just three weeks. The only problem is, she can’t do it alone. Now, she needs to strong-arm, cajole, and otherwise socialize with her video game coworkers, especially her roommate, Adam, who’s always been strictly business with her. The more they work together, though, the closer they get…
Adam London has always thought of his roomie Tessa as “one of the guys” until he agreed to help her with this crazy project. Now, he’s thinking of her all the time… and certainly as something more than just a roommate! But his last girlfriend broke up with him to follow her ambitions, and he knows that Tessa is obsessed with getting ahead in the video game world.
Going from friends to something more is one hell of a challenge. Can Tessa and Adam level up their relationship to love?
Buy the book from; Amazon, (It’s actually free!)
I’m a gamer, playing World of Warcraft (For the Alliance, by the way 😉 ), Terraria, and a few console games (Hubby has an XBOX ONE), so I grabbed this book from Amazon. It’s a free book, and I thought why not. This book is told in alternating points of view, and there is no absolute distinction that it is being switched with who is talking, so that was a bit confusing at first.
The sex in this book is pretty tame compared to others. Adam and Tessa fight their attraction and what they want almost the whole book. When they finally have sex, it looks like a relationship might not work, but things work out for them, Tessa gets the job she wants, Adam gets the relationship he wants, and they leave the book happy!
Level Up isn’t an extremely long book, it’s only 151 pages, but it’s full of a lot of character. It mentions different fandoms, such as Dr. Who, Supernatural, Sailor Moon and even Harry Potter is mentioned. I’ll be quite honest & say that the ONLY one of those that even holds my attention is Harry Potter. I do know about the other 3 I listed, but I have NEVER watched a single episode. I know that Supernatural has Jensen Ackles in it, and I know him because he used to be Eric Brady on Days of Our Lives… Anyway… I really did enjoy this book. Was it predictable? In places, I think, but it wasn’t so predictable that you could actually guess how the book was going to end. Had it been THAT predictable, I probably wouldn’t have finished, and wouldn’t be excited to read the next one, which is Stacey’s Novella (HOOKED) soon!
