Her One and Only Book Review

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are my own. I would NEVER recommend a book I didn’t like.

her-one-and-onlyAbout the Book

Gray Fowler, star NFL tight end, is being pursued by a stalker, so his team hires a protection agency to keep Gray under the watch of a bodyguard at all times. When Gray meets Dru Porter, an agent assigned to him, he’s indignant. How can an attractive young female half his size possibly protect him?
But Dru’s a former Marine, an expert markswoman, and a black belt. She’s also ferociously determined to uncover the identity of Gray’s stalker. And she’s just as determined to avoid any kind of romantic attachment between herself and the rugged football player with the mysterious past. But the closer they get to finding the stalker, the closer they grow to each other. As the danger rises, can Dru and Gray entrust their hearts–and their lives–to one another?

My Thoughts

Okay, so for me, it took a little bit to get into the book. Maybe it’s because my kids just wouldn’t leave me alone and kept asking questions about random stuff or whatnot, but it honestly took me until the middle of the 2nd chapter to get into the book.

I’ve read other blogs who reviewed this book, and from my understanding, this is the final book in the Porter series. It is also the first that I have read. I don’t feel that I missed anything because I haven’t read the previous books, because there’s a back story for the other 3 Porter siblings in this book. Will I eventually read the other 3 books? Absolutely!!

I liked Dru. She’s funny, smart, spunky, pretty, and quite frankly, she’s a badass too. She can most definitely take care of herself. That being said, I liked Gray also. I can’t imagine how I would feel if I were a big football player & had a petite woman bodyguard come to be my protector. I can imagine how Gray felt, because she probably didn’t look like the body guard type! Either way, she got the job done in the end!

The chemistry between Gray and Dru is there pretty quick in the book, however, I love the way they tease each other. Gray teases Dru about being a woman and she teases him about being a big football player.

I will say that the suspense in this book had me going.. I had NO clue who the stalker might be! I thought they had him caught first, but then I kept remembering the prologue, and I knew that I was wrong. However, I just couldn’t figure out who it would be. I did like how the prologue didn’t tell who it was, also.

About the Author

During her childhood in California, Becky frequently produced homemade plays starring her sisters, friends, and cousins. These plays almost always featured a heroine, a prince, and a love story with a happy ending. She’s been a fan of all things romantic ever since.

Becky and her husband lived overseas in the Caribbean and Australia before settling in Dallas, Texas. It was during her years abroad that Becky’s passion for reading turned into a passion for writing. She published three historical romances with Avon Books, then put her career on hold for several years to care for her kids, then recently returned to writing sheerly for the love of it. She felt led to move to the genre of contemporary Christian romance and couldn’t be more thrilled with it.

These days Becky can be found failing but trying to keep up with her housework, sweating at the gym, carting her kids around town, playing tennis, hunched over her computer, eating chocolate, or collapsed on the sofa watching TV with her husband.
