Her Hopes & Dreams Book Review

terri-osburn-her-hopes-and-dreams_600x900About the Book

As a newly single mother, Carrie Farmer isn’t quite ready to jump back into the dating pool in Ardent Springs—especially since her last marriage was such a disaster. But if anyone could entice her to wade in a bit, it would be her hunky neighbor, Noah Winchester. He’s the perfect man: strong, protective, and smoking hot. But her eyes have deceived her before, and she’s no longer willing to hand over her heart so easily.

After completing several tours in the Middle East, Noah returns to his hometown a very different man. The former soldier’s plan to rest and relax is soon waylaid by the intriguing woman next door and her heart-stealing little girl. Something—or someone—put shadows in Carrie’s lovely eyes, and he’s determined to clear them away. But when hidden demons can no longer be ignored, the couple gets a reminder from an unexpected source that love truly can conquer all.

My Thoughts

Being the latest installment of the Ardent Springs series, I had hoped I wasn’t going to be lost with this book, but I wasn’t. I enjoy books that are a part of a series, but I also enjoy books that can be read as stand alone books! Noah was the absolute perfect hero for Carrie Farmer! While she had trust issues with men, being a single mother and domestic abuse survivor, Noah had issues of his own, while suffering with PTSD after serving 4 tours in the Middle East with the Army. I loved that Noah finally realized that he couldn’t hide from his problems and finally got professional help. One thing that bothered me with this book was the speed their relationship progressed. Maybe it could happen, but it seems kind of strange that Carrie could be so against a relationship one day then the next night, be completely open to it. Where was the caution of the single mother who had previously been in a domestic abuse relationship not even a year prior to the book starting? I will be getting the previous books I believe, and reading them all in order! Reading some other reviews, I realize there are some parts of the story that I haven’t caught onto, like what completely drove Carrie into her dead husbands arms, while being married to someone else. All in all, I thought this book was very good. I enjoyed reading it. I was able to jump in feet first and had no second thoughts about whether I would like the book or not. It wasn’t a slow book at the beginning either. It took me no time to get into it!

    Romance is my favorite genre.

  6. I’m quite torn as well. Got to read the excerpt at the Book Unleashed site and it looks really interesting but I’m thinking if I should hold back and get the first book first. I’ll probably read this first since I’m hooked already.
